Tecno Camon 17 was released between May June 2021, and Tecno didn’t hesitate to release its successor Camon 18 a few months later in October, to be precise, which is just three months gap between them.

Now, we will take a closer look at the features and functionalities of these two smartphones. Also, remember that Camon 17 and 18 came in different variants like Camon 17, Camon 17P before the Camon 17 Pro. At the same time, we have Camon 18, Camon 18i, and Camon 18 Premier, but the Pro and Premier variant is the most powerful and expensive one among them. Display & Design

Tecno Camon 17 Pro offers the best viewing experience with its 6.7 inches AMOLED, 120Hz, 550 nits display, 1080 x 2400 pixels, 20:9 ratio resolution, and 163.8 x 75.9 x 8.2 mm dimensions.

Tecno Camon 17 Pro, on the other hand, offers 6.8 inches IPS LCD, 90Hz, 500 nits display, 1080 x 2460 pixels resolution, and 168.9 x 77 x 9 mm. Generally, an AMOLED display is superior to an IPS LCD but at the same time more expensive. In this case, you had to consider the possibility of replacing the screen if it breaks.

As for the size, Camon 17 Pro is slightly bigger while Camon 18 Premier wins with a 120Hz refresh rate and 550 nits compared to 90Hz, 500 nits Coman 17 Pro offers. When it comes to design, they are classic smartphones with attractive designs, but I can’t say which one is better in terms of design because it depends on your choice and desires.

Operating System & Processor

I don’t see much difference in terms of operating system and processor. However, I can say that Tecno Camon 18 Premier is better with the latest Tecno HIOS 8.0 based on Android 11 OS and the fastest Mediatek Helio G96 gaming chipset and 2.0 GHz Octa-core processor.

Camon 17, on the other hand, is equipped with Tecno HIOS 7.6 based Android 11 OS together with Mediatek Helio G95 gaming chipset and 2.0 GHz Octa-core processor. You can surely see that they are close to each other in terms of OS and processor.

Memory Size

Tecno Camon 17 Pro and cam on is currently one of the Tecno smartphones with the most significant processing RAM and storage memory. They both have 8GB RAM + 256 ROM, which means there is no winner here. You can go for any one of them that pleases you. 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM is a lot, and you should be okay with it.

Camera Quality

Tecno Camon 18 Premier has powerful triple rear cameras which feature 64MP + 8MP + 12MP with quad-LED flash while Tecno Camon 17 Pro features 64MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP quad rear camera with quad flash. Looking at the camera configuration, it’s clear that Camon 18 Premier is better even with the triple rear camera.

However, when it comes to the selfie camera, Camon 17 Pro seems to be better with a single 48MP front camera, while Camon 18 Premier offers a single 32MP front camera. Despite the differences, I will still give it to Camon 18 Premier as the winner of the camera.

Battery Capacity

Tecno Camon 17 Pro is powered with a 5000 mAh battery + 25W fast charging feature, while Camon 18 Premier offers a 4750 mAh battery with a 33W fast charging feature. In a real sense, they are both the same.

Camon 17 with a 5000 mAh battery might look like the best option, but what about the fast charging feature, which shows that Camon 18 will charge faster than Camon 17. In my opinion, 33W fast charging canceled the extra 250 mAh battery that Camon 17 offers.

Though, you will surely enjoy both phones because they have strong batteries with fast charging feature is also very important. But you are not going to be seeing that old USB charging port but a type-C which is more reliable and durable.

Price & Value

Tecno Camon 18 Premier is more expensive than Camon 17 Pro, and presently you will spend 200k plus to get Camon 18 Premier while Camon 17 Pro goes between 130k to 145k. However, Camon 17 Pro, in my opinion, offers more value for money, but the choice is all yours.
