The Vivo X80 Pro’s display spec sheet includes all the information you need to know. It boasts a 1,440×3,200px resolution and a pixel density of 517ppi for the 6.78-inch Samsung-made OLED display. Touch sampling may be as fast as 300Hz, whereas refresh rates typically top out at 120Hz but can dip as low as 1Hz depending on the content and activity. Over one billion colors can be seen thanks to the panel’s 10-bit color depth and HDR10 compatibility, and it has a maximum brightness of 1500 nits.
They term it “local peak brightness,” which is an honest approach we respect since it’s only applicable to tiny regions. On average, Vivo offers 1000nits of brightness in everyday usage, and we found it to be true (plus a little bit more) on the X80 Pro, even when the phone was put in full sunlight with adaptive brightness turned on. When the toggle is off, the value at the right end of the slider is 488 nits.
In terms of brightness, this is as bright as a smartphone display can go, barring the current top-of-the-line iPhones and Galaxy phones.
As with the X70 Pro+ and iQOO 9 Pro, the X80 Pro approaches color management similarly. If you’d want to fiddle about with the settings, there are three colors presets and a stepless temperature slider. Though its white point and grayscale hues are obviously frigid and tilted towards blue, more or less the usual, the Standard profile covers a broad range of color gamuts and is typically correct for DCI-P3 content. Moving the temperature slider approximately a third or a half of the way toward warm may make a noticeable difference.
If you’re looking for a preset that accurately represents sRGB material, go no further than the Professional preset.
The Bright mode, on the other hand, boosts the contrast and saturation while ignoring any effort at color fidelity beyond the P3 color space.
Both YouTube and Netflix offered HDR streaming while using the X80 Pro, however, Amazon Prime did not. The video quality on Netflix and Prime was 1080p.
Smart Switch, 60Hz, and 120Hz refresh rates are all available in the X80 Pro’s settings menu. When it comes to auto-switching the refresh rate, the Smart Switch mode and 120Hz mode both utilize comparable logic, and there isn’t much of a difference between the modes.
60Hz mode has a ceiling, but it drops to conserve battery when the phone doesn’t detect any touch input for a short period of time. In this mode, we never witnessed readings below 10Hz, however in the other modes, the settings menu, when you’re not touching the device, would dip below 1Hz in rare cases. Speaking of which, the 1Hz rate can only be reached at or near-maximum brightness; move the slider farther to the left, and the rate jumps to 10Hz.
In Smart switch mode, browsers can only handle 60Hz, while in 120Hz mode, they can handle 120Hz. Even if you’re not touching the screen, the phone will decrease to 10Hz if it detects moving content on the web page, but if you are, it will retain 60Hz.
Only the refresh rate required for video material will be provided. While the Hz counter jumped all over the place for 24fps, 30fps, and 48fps clips, the video played smoothly (besides, who uses 48fps? ), and the phone recorded solid refresh rate values for 60fps segments.
We’re seeing little progress in the availability of high-refresh-rate gaming displays. The Vivo X80 Pro’s GFXBench results show that the phone’s processor is capable of running games at 120 frames per second, but this isn’t the case in the real world.
Vivo x80 Pro sound quality
Stereo speakers, which first appeared on the X70 Pro+ and are now available on the X80 Pro, are yet another long-overdue upgrade. With this typical design, there is a lower-firing dedicated speaker and an earpiece that create two channels and the software watches phone orientation to determine which channel should be sent to each of the speakers in landscape mode.
When it came to volume, we gave the X80 Pro a score of ‘98%,’ putting it on par with other phones from the company’s lineup, such as the Oppo Find X5, iQOO 9 Pro, and last year’s X70. They’re all distinctively different, but not in a night-and-and-day sense. There are a few flaws in each of the (extended) family members, but we think the X80 Pro strikes the finest mix between low-end punch, appealing voices, and well-defined treble. Competitors like the Xiaomi 12 Pro and the Galaxy S22+, on the other hand, are completely outclassed.
Vivo X80 Pro Battery Capacity
There is a little increase in the X80 Pro’s battery capacity from the X70 Pro+ to 4,700mAh. Because newer chipsets don’t always provide superior battery life, we anticipate the additional 200mAh to be able to keep up with their increased needs.
That’s what the numbers below illustrate, to a large extent Runtime in looping films (24/30Hz frame rate) was almost the same as the previous model, although Wi-Fi web surfing was half an hour less than the X70 Pro+ at 13:49h (at a variable 10Hz-60Hz refresh rate). Solid, but not class-leading, figures here.
As high-end SoCs go, the call time and standby economy weren’t all that awful, but they didn’t improve the total Endurance rating, and the result is 79 hours.
Fast Charging feature
Vivo’s FlashCharge 80W charger is included in the X80 Pro package. 20V/4A is its highest-rated mode, with the phone achieving a peak of 65-66W of charging power to its two independent batteries at roughly 17V and a little under 4A during this mode. Other USB power delivery up to 65W adapters we tested didn’t work with the X80 Pro, so a delayed fallback if you don’t have your Vivo charger nearby and unique use of PD on the X80 Pro.
As with the X70 Pro+, wireless charging has been included in the X80 Pro family. We couldn’t use one of Vivo’s FlashCharge wireless pads, even though they claim a 50W maximum input power and 50 minutes for the 0 to 100 percent run. Even though there is no certification listing for the extended power profile for the X80 Pro, the X70 Pro+, at the WPC, it is possible that the X80 Pro may charge up to 11W using conventional Qi charging stations.
