At MWC 2023, TCL introduced the second version of their NXTPAPER display technology, the first tablet used, and a cheaper one with a conventional display.
TCL NXTPAPER 11 is less expensive and more portable than the 12″ tablet shown at CES. The new slate’s display is a 10.95-inch, 2,000-by-1,200-pixel IPS LCD with a 15:9 aspect ratio and a unique coating that makes it seem like paper. Together, this and the optional stylus support its 4,096 pressure gradations.
Compared to its predecessor, NXTPAPER 2.0 technology is capable of reaching 500 nits of brightness. Anti-glare technology and a dedicated light sensor make it useful in bright environments.
The tablet uses an Helio P60T processor but does not have cellular connectivity (the NXTPAPER 12 Pro does 5G thanks to its Kompanio 800T chip). It runs on Android 13 and boasts sophisticated multitasking features, including split-screen and floating window modes. The microSD card slot allows for more storage space.
Both Wi-Fi 5 (ac) and Bluetooth 5.0 provide local connectivity. This slate is great for video conversations thanks to its high resolution (8 megapixels) front-facing camera, two microphones, and four speakers. There’s an 8-megapixel shooter around the back, too.
The tablet’s dimensions are 6.9 mm thick, 462 g in weight, and 8,000 mAh in capacity. The supplied 18W charger allows for charging through USB-C.
In May, the TCL NXTPAPER 11 will become available in Europe, with further rollout to additional areas to follow. The slate costs $250, and the T-Pen stylus must be purchased separately. Moreover, TCL has a Bluetooth keyboard, flip case, and TP screen protector available.
TCL Tab 11
You may choose between a Wi-Fi-only model and a 4G-capable model of the TCL Tab 11. Both have the same 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space offered by the same Helio P60T chipset (4x A73 + 4x A53 @ 2.0GHz, PowerVR GE83200). There includes a microSD card slot and a SIM card slot (for those who need it).
The screen also remains the same, measuring in at 10.95 inches with an IPS LCD resolution of 2,000 by 1,200 pixels (15:9) and supporting the T-Pen pen in its optional form (4,096 levels of pressure). Unfortunately, it does not have the same perks as NXTPAPER. The 8MP front-facing camera’s wide-angle 100° lens lets you look around during calls. The rear camera likewise has an 8MP sensor.
Wi-Fi 5 (ac), Bluetooth 5.0, and, for a little extra dough, LTE are all included in the slate. Onboard, you’ll find four loudspeakers and two microphones. The Tab 11 is 6.9mm thin, has a larger 8,000mAh battery, and comes with a faster charging 18W charger, much like its more expensive sister.
As of May, you can get your hands on a TCL Tab 11 for $180 for the Wi-Fi variant or $210 for the 4G version. The T-Pen, a Bluetooth keyboard, a protective cover, and a video are just a few of the available extras.
